What I collect, why I collect it, and what you can tell me to do about it.
This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics and makes no third party requests when you load a page. Nothing is tracked.
I hold your name and email address only if you asked me to, by subscribing to The Through Line or by booking a call. You can have them removed at any time by replying to anything I send you, or by writing to sarah@sarahlfearon.com.
I am Sarah Fearon, a sole trader based in East Yorkshire, United Kingdom, writing under the name Sarah L Fearon. I am the data controller for personal data collected through sarahlfearon.com.

I collect your name and email address. I use them to send you the bulletin and nothing else. I do not sell, rent or share the list.
The lawful basis is your consent, given when you enter your address and confirm it by clicking the link in the email that follows. You can withdraw that consent at any time using the unsubscribe link at the foot of every issue. Withdrawing it does not affect anything sent before you did.
Booking runs through TidyCal. It collects your name, your email address and anything you type into the booking form, and it tells me when you are coming.
The lawful basis is that the processing is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract. If we do not end up working together I keep the record only as long as set out below.
I keep the correspondence, because that is what an inbox is. The lawful basis is my legitimate interest in answering people who write to me and in keeping a record of what was said.
My host records standard server logs: the pages requested, the time, and a truncated or full IP address. This happens on every website and it is how a server works. The lawful basis is my legitimate interest in keeping the site running and secure. I do not use these logs to build any picture of you, and I have added no analytics of any kind.
This site sets none. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to. It loads no fonts, scripts, images or trackers from anywhere else, so no third party learns that you visited.
Two things do take you elsewhere, and only if you act. Submitting the subscribe form sends your address to Kit. Clicking the booking link takes you to TidyCal. Both are covered below, and both have their own privacy notices which apply once you are with them.
I use a small number of service providers. They process data on my instructions under a contract, and none of them may use it for their own purposes.

I may also disclose personal data where I am required to by law.
Some of those providers are based in the United States, so your data is transferred outside the United Kingdom. Those transfers are made under the safeguards permitted by UK data protection law, which means either the UK extension to the EU-US Data Protection Framework where the provider is certified under it, or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the standard contractual clauses.
If you want to know which mechanism applies to a particular provider, ask and I will tell you.
Under UK data protection law you can ask me to do any of the following, and I will respond within one month.

Tell me first if you are willing to, because it is usually quicker. You are entitled to go straight to the regulator either way.
